KMUTT
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi , or KMUTT is a Public University in Thonburi, opposite of Central Bangkok on the western side of the Chao Phraya river. Initially founded as Thonburi College of Technology as a post-secondary research and technical institution for educational and industrial purposes on the February 4th,1960, it is considered the first technological college of Thailand.
By 1971, Thonburi College of Technology merged with North Bangkok College of Technology and the College of Telecommunciation Technology to officially form King Mongkut Institute of Technology Thonburi (KMITT). According to its Website, by a Royal degree in 1986,
KMITT became a juristic entity within the Ministry of University Affairs for King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Lakrabang, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Thonburi, and King Monkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok.
By April 4, 1998, the Ministry of University Affairs officially recognized it as a University, changing its name to King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi. KMUTT primary campus is located at Tambon (Subdistrict) Bangmod, Amphur Ratchburana, Thonburi Province, known as Bangmod campus. KMUTT also has another campus in Thonburi at Bangkhuntien district, and a rural campus in Ratchaburi province, about an hour west of Bangkok metropolitan.
